Craft Time Mosaics From Brainstorm – Review

We returned from our lovely, hot summer break in Mojacar to less than perfect weather. It is British summertime after all! It didn’t take long for the sounds of “mummy, I’m bored” to become the most over used phrase in our house. So the arrival of 2 Mini Mosaic Craft Time kits from Brainstorm brought a welcome respite. My girls love anything crafty and if sparkles and crafts are combined then we are on to a definite winner! We received two kits, a pony and a dragon. I was a little concerned we would have arguments over the pony, however the dragon is gorgeous, sparkly and definitely as attractive to my twins as the pony, so that was one argument avoided.

My daughters are six and are developing their own independent streak, which is lovely to see. The girls were completely independent in completing the mosaics  and just gave me a running commentary of when they changed colour. I was able to relax and have a coffee, the girls even took great pride in photographing each step they completed, they are getting used to this blogging lark! Having twins means that they could even photograph each other completing the mosaics – RESULT!

The size of the kits make them ideal for travel. They would be great to complete on an aeroplane, to pass the hours. The fab thing about them is you don’t need anything else to complete them. No need for scissors glue or water, so no risk  of mess.

The kits are ideal for both younger children and upwards. Fine motor skills and hand eye coordination are used and the kits can help with colour recognition. I think my girls would love to try a more challenging project in the future and if I’m honest they are probably at the top end of age suitability. That being said, if time is short and you need to keep your child occupied then they would be invaluable, as the picture would be completed, giving a sense of achievement. We have numerous craft projects around the house unfinished, due to the task being too difficult or time consuming.

The kits are a great introduction to mosaics. Each kit contains 200  glittery adhesive tiles and a board which guides the child as to where to place the tiles. After the project was completed the girls took great pride in displaying their artwork on the mantelpiece and they look great!

*For the purpose of an honest review we were sent two Craft Time Mosaic Kits. All words and opinions are my own.
