Budgeting for A Family Summer Filled With Fun!

Budgeting for a family summer probably already has a lot of us in a cold and clammy sweat. After all, being a parent when you’re on a budget is already a huge challenge, but when the kids are off school and need constant stimulation … after the fifth summer, it’s clear you’re going to need a change!

Now’s the time to introduce one, seeing as there’s more help than you think out there! If you need some ideas on where to start, here’s a couple of suggestions.

Even feeding the birds has some pennies involved! (Image)

Make Up Your Own Activities

When you’ve got an imagination and kids with unending energy at your disposal, you can get up to all sorts that’s going to keep them entertained! Don’t ever underestimate the power of simply going for a walk in the woods, nor the power of heading to the park with some skittles or hula hoops. You’ve got these things stored away in the garage, why not put them to good use now?

Even the older ones can get in on the action, showing the little ones the best moves and telling them plenty of stories to keep the day interesting. And hey, a game of rounders or baseball is always fun! Don’t worry, they always have buses to take and friends to hang out with if they get bored.

Get Some Money Saving Installations

Saving money often means making your house a little more functional. Spending a bit of money now to save a lot more later is a good move when you’ve got a family of 5 or 6 to look after.

Focus on the most used areas of your house, such as the kitchen, bathroom or bedroom. Everybody needs these rooms daily so try to utilise these rooms to save a few pennies. For example you could research into getting a power flush installation to make sure your heating system is working efficiently. An inefficient central heating system can waste a lot of money.

Budgeting for a family summer doesn’t have to be as hard as it seems, as long as you prepare first and make a few savings here and there.

If you have young children the In The Night Garden Live Show is currently touring the UK. Cassie Parish who blogs at  www.gorgeousgeorgesmama.co.uk has written a review of the show in Richmond.

Enjoy a summer filled with lots of family fun!

This is why we have started geocaching – it’s a free activity that keeps us healthy (lots of walking) and it’s fun! It’s going to be a very long summer and I am already starting to check out discounted activities we can do 🙂 Sim x #TriumphantTales
